Thanks to my Diamond Elite status, they placed us in a 1 King Premium Deep Soaking Tub. ROOM: Prior to arrival, I called & emailed the hotel to request early check-in, a quiet room on an upper floor & possible room upgrade. ARRIVAL/CHECK-IN: We arrived before check-in, but thankfully our room type was available. My husband & I stayed for 2 nights (Friday & Saturday) & used 76k IHG rewards points (the price later went up to 122k, so book early!). This was our first visit to Kimpton Gray in Chicago, IL. The fly in the ointment is that the sound insulation in the hotel is not good, the guests from the opposite side of the room can hear the opening of the door, but the overall is good! Royal chef and old Sichuan are very popular! It is also 10 minutes from the hotel to the famous scenic spot Michigan Avenue, which is also close to Navy Pier and Millennium Park. Not far from there are Chinese restaurants, such as Imperial Lamian, Old Sichuan, MingHin Cuisine, Shanghai Terrance, which are just a few minutes from Uber. Shopping, dining and entertainment are nearby.
I really like the bathroom's minimalist wash suit, which is white tea, especially fragrant and comfortable. The hotel has a restaurant on the left side of the hotel entrance, named Somerset, in the room can also book this restaurant in the room dinning, about twenty or thirty minutes to deliver the meal to the room. Although there is no bustling Michigan Avenue, it is still good! There is a bar on the 18th floor of the hotel, not big. The scenery outside the window is very clear. The biggest feature of the room is the floor-to-ceiling windows. If I am in this part of Chicago again I would definitely stay here! Thanks and keep up the good work! The orange line is only 1 block away right across from Giordanos and it takes you to Midway Airport in less than 30 minutes. I had the Italian beef sandwich add cheese and it was amazing! It's right across the street. The closest restaurant that was open past 6pm was Giordanos. The area is kind of quiet at night since it's a business district but the good thing about that is that it's quiet at night and right next door to the Willis Tower aka ”Sears Tower!” I highly recommend a visit up to the 360 observation deck. Microwave and fridge were very convenient. Angela the manager was nice enough to send me a text to ask if everything was ok! That is service above and beyond what is expected! Kudos to her great customer service! The King deluxe city view room was huge! it felt like more like being in an apartment. Be sure to push hard on the door to open your room since it's a new door it's still kinda stiff no big deal but I figured it out! Also when getting on the right elevator make sure you use the right one since they share this property with another Hilton brand hotel here. I stayed here for one night using 50,000 H Honors rewards and loved it. I don't think it was worth the price we paid. Needless to say, we will be looking for a different hotel next time we visit family. Upon check out I asked why our rooms weren't cleaned and we were informed that we had to request our rooms to be cleaned. We stayed for four days and three nights. The next day there were bagels but not much of anything else except the biscuits and gravy and sausage. Wouldn't that be something you would budget for? She told me there was other food to eat.All that was left was some unappetizing biscuits and gravy and turkey sausage.
She reacted to me in a rude manner by saying she didn't have any bread products! She said we had 300 people over the weekend and we are all out. I kindly asked the woman in charge of the buffet if there were any more bagels. When we returned for breakfast on Monday there wasn't any food left.
I asked the woman at the front desk if it could be fixed. The desk only had one bulb at the top and the light over the sink in the bathroom was burned out. The light by the bed only had one light bulb and the shade was cracked. The room was old and in need of updating. We were always pleased with the accommodations until now. We have stayed at this Holiday Inn before. Crestwood | 5.05km from city center My brother and I had to visit a sick family member in Crestwood.
